Brace yourselves for the most heart-pounding love rollercoaster ever! Eva and Shane's whirlwind romance is short, sweet, and oh-so-intense. With childhoods as stable as a Jenga tower during an earthquake, they cross paths at just the right chaotic moment.
Their attraction is undeniable, but let's be real – they've got more baggage than a weekend getaway. Unresolved issues? Check. Individual drama? Double-check.

Couldn't peel my eyes off the pages because the romance is like a caffeinated sprint – intense and urgent! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’• And can we talk about the supporting characters? Hilarious antics and personalities that had me LOLing for real!

In the end, I consider the epilogue the real last chapter. That so-called "epilogue" was basically the mic-drop moment this love story deserved! 🎀πŸ”₯ #LoveStoryOnFire #PageTurner #EvaAndShaneSaga

"I love you", said Shane, "Dramatically, violently, and forever. "

If you like me need a 90s black love movie but in book form , then look no further
We follow writers Shane and Eva who have been given a second chance at love after their brief intense romance in high school. I was addicted from page one

This was a beautiful second chance love story between two toxic messes that just gave me all the absolute feels! I LOVED this, it was unapologetic in its  blackness, the story ripped my heart out and gave me butterflies. Eva, our female main character (fmc) was raised by a narcissistic mom and as a result struggles with self harm. She also has a debilating disability and the novel focus on the 7 days of pure bliss she shared with Shane a troubled foster kid with a drinking problem. She never sees him again but their respective books have been about and to each other. I absolutely swooned when they reunite and Eva says to him : stop writing about me and he was like YOU FIRST.

I also LOVED the banter, the little quirks shane has, the critique on how Shane can be a badboy author with no consequences while Eva gets pigeonholed writing "smut". I loved how they were absolutely consumed with each other

In conclusion, there was black love, there were lovable characters, there was 🌢🌢🌢 but most importantly there wascommentary on how Eva, a black single mother, navigates her disability, her mental health and barriers in her career due to her race and gender. I laughed and I cried and then I recommended it to every single person I know.

Seven Days In Junes follows Eva Mercy, a single mother and a famous erotic romance author. Unbeknownst to her beloved fans, Eva suffers from a chronic illness that manifests into severe migraines that affects her day to day life. While trying to manage her migraines Eva finds herself losing her passion to continue her erotica series, wanting to write sometime she feels more connected to. When Eva attends a black literacy event a familiar face from Eva's past walks through the door: Shan Hail, an award-winning author of modern classics, with personal demons of his own. Despite it being thirteen years since they've last seen each other, they still feel the emotions they had for one another. Eva must decide if she can trust Shane again .

WHAT I LIKED:

  • It wasn't a typical fluffy adult romance. Tia did a brilliant job intertwining important topics such as self-harm, drug/alcohol abuse, mental health, chronic illness, and child neglect/rough upbringings into the story.
  • Seeing how Eva's and Shane's upbringings and traumas affect the choices and paths they've made especially with their loved ones and people they devote time to.
  • Entering the mind of someone with a chronic illness and understanding the effects it has on a person's day-to-day life.
  • The story alternating between Eva and Shane
  • Inside look into the publishing world as a writer, where writers find their inspiration from, the sexism in publishing and the perception and judgment different genres face.
  • Eva's relationship with her daughter Audre. Their interactions made me laugh. I admired Eva's protectiveness in shielding Audre from the trauma from her childhood.
  • The romance, WOW! Eva and Shane's chemistry was amazing. The way they interacted and communicated with each other was perfect. They understood one another like no one else. Their romance felt real. I loved how they influenced and inspired one another in the stories they wrote.
